St. Raphael Catholic School (SRCS) offers a highly regarded band and chorus program and is designed to enhance music performance skills while providing the student an enriching and diverse music education. These ensembles are used to support and represent SRCS by providing public performances while showcasing students' talents and enhancing the image of St. Raphael. These ensembles are comprised of several components: Symphonic Band (6th, 7th, and 8th grades); Concert Band (4th and 5th grades), and Resounding Chorus (6th – 8th grades)
St. Raphael Catholic School also offers fundamentals of music classes for grades EC4 thru 3rd grade. These classes lay the foundation for basic music literacy, leading to a lifetime of joyful music-making. The curriculum includes learning rhythms and notes, music vocabulary, and proper vocal development. This course also allows students to listen to the musical elements discussed in class through ear training. Students will explore various music instruments as well, including; brass, woodwinds, strings, and percussion instruments. Furthermore, students will put their knowledge of music literacy concepts into practice by performing on various musical instruments (recorders, drums, and Orff instruments) as an ensemble.
